BALTIMORE: Continuing the honor-collecting tradition of its predecessor in the Remin Chronicles, Book 2, The Breezes of Inspire by Nick Ruth, a homeschooling dad and government employee, has just been named a Finalist for ForeWord Magazine's prestigious Book of the Year Awards (the winner will be announced in May at Book Expo America, in Washington DC)

The Remin Chronicles is a fantasy-adventure series in the tradition of the Wizard of Oz and The Chronicles of Narnia. The books are imaginative stories of magic, friendship, and adventure - with a bit of environmental science blended in. The first book in the series, The Dark Dreamweaver, portrayed the lifecycles of monarch butterflies, and The Breezes of Inspire slowly reveals the workings of one of nature's most miraculous processes: symbiosis (life forms that cannot exist without each other).

This is the second recognition for Breezes, already named an American Book Association BookSense Pick. Together, the two books have received seven honors, including being named one of two children's chapter books to get the Mom's Choice Award for fall 2005 (detailed list of awards on request).

"This sequel to the Ben Franklin Award finalist The Dark Dreamweaver is many things: a wonderful midgrade fantasy, a science teaching tool for symbiosis, and a really good read. This time, protagonist David includes his cousins in a visit to the world of Remin and beyond. They have many adventures and all become wizards of magic in their own way."
